BHIMDUTTANAGAR: A woman reportedly killed herself by poisoning after murdering her children, in Bhuda of Belauri Municipality-14, Kanchanpur district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Basanti Chaudhary, who earlier killed her four-year-old son Dipesh and seven-year-old daughter Jasmine.

According to police, Chaudhary, after a minor dispute with her husband, had taken the children to a sugarcane field and killed them. She exited the house under the pretense to take the children to school.

Locals had rushed the mother to hospital for treatment to the Dhangadhi-based Seti Zonal Hospital; but she breathed her last while undergoing treatment.

Ram Lal, father of the two children, had called the school after the children did not come home even after school had finished.

Following the shock, the father also fainted and is currently receiving medical attention at the Mahakali Zonal Hospital, informed SP Gindra Bogati of the Beldandi Area Police Office.
