KAPILVASTU: Normalcy was restored in Kapilvastu on Wednesday after four days of the general strike called by the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum throughout the district protesting the manhandling of its cadres by the police.

The MJF withdrew the strike following an agreement with the district administration in which the latter agreed to recommend that the centre take action against Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Force (APF) Prakash Majhi, who was accused of roughing up the party cadres and provide compensation to the people injured in the incident.

The agreement was made between the Forum and the district administration in Taulihawa, the district headquarters late Tuesday.
