Kargil victims compensated

The government of India has provided compensation to the families of the nine Nepalis, serving in the Indian army, killed in India-Pakistan border war in Kargil two years ago.
Among the nine, the family of Bhim Bahadur Dewan of Ward-6 in Namsaling Village Development Committee (VDC) of Ilam district received the highest amount of compensation in cash.
According to major Ajit Kumar Chaterjee of the pension distribution office in Dharan, Padma Dewan, the widow of Bhim Bahadur received a cheque of Rs 5061,440.
The compensation has been provided for the education, health and living of the families of the armymen who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil war.
Others receiving the compensation amount include the widow of Janak Bahadur Rai of Ward-9 in Solma VDC of Diktel, Maya Rai (Rs 4942,758), the widow of Gangaram Rai of Dangihat-5 in Morang Usha Kumari Rai (Rs 4811,249), the widow of Karna Bahadur Limbu of Hampang, Taplegunj Bishnu Maya Limbu (Rs 4354,812) and the widow of Tikadwaj Lawati of Yasok,
Panchthar (Rs 4310,896).
Likewise, the widow of Chitan Prasad Dahal of Bhudhabare, Jhapa -- Chandra Kumari Dahal received a cheque of Rs 5024,334 while Dil Kumari Limbu, the widow of Jit Bahadur Limbu of Jhiljhile, Jhapa received Rs 4261,606.
Jitsuk Rai, the widow of Raj Kumar Rai of Dharampur, Jhapa received Rs 4078681 and the widow of Kaluram Rai of Khidima, Diktel Harkamaya Rai received Rs 4013969.
