Jigaun (Banke), July 12:

A Karnali Air helicopter, which took off from Humla’s Simikot at 12:20 pm, met with an accident in Jigaun of Banke’s Bankatuwa VDC today.

The helicopter met with the accident at a muddy field in Jigaun after a mechanical problem in its wing. All the passengers and crews on board are safe, said in-charge of the area police office Kohalpur, SI Raj Bahadur Thapa.

That was because of the careful handling of the situation by pilot Sabin Basnet, said sub-inspector Thapa. Seven persons, including two crew members, were on board the 9N AEL

helicopter. There were five passengers in the helicopter, including two Indians and three Nepalis.

“The helicopter had to make an emergency landing due to a mechanical problem in its wing,” said head of the Civil Aviation Authority in Nepalgunj, Suresh Kumar Azad.
