Karnali CM to face vote of confidence today

Chief Minister of Karnali Province Mahendra Bahadur Shahi is seeking a vote of confidence from the Provincial Assembly tomorrow.

The parliament secretariat has stated that he will face the vote of confidence in the 5th meeting of the state assembly tomorrow.

According to CPN-Maoist Centre Chief Whip Seeta Nepali, CPN-MC and CPN-UML had issued a whip to all the members to be present and cast their vote for Shahi-led government. There are 40 lawmakers in the province. The UML has 20 members, CPN-MC has 13 and Nepali Congress has six lawmakers in the province.

A single lawmaker from Rastriya Prajatantra Party also supported the government during its formation.

As per the constitutional provision, the chief minister should take a vote of confidence in the PA within 30 days of being elected to the office.
