Kaski court settles 70 per cent cases

Kaski District Court has settled 70 per cent of the cases in the fiscal 2015/16, as per the information given at a press meet organised by the court in Kaski today.
Judge Narishwor Bhandari set the record of settling as many as 1,069 cases during the period, which is the highest in a year by an individual judge in the country’s history.
Similarly, judges Shekhar Prasad Poudel, Ananta Raj Dumre, Nagendra lal Karna, Narayan Prasad Dahal and Bishnu Prasad Gautam also dealt with larger number of cases in the fiscal 2015/16.
Judges Poudel, Dahal and Gautam were transferred at the district court in February, January and April, respectively. “More number cases than our target have been settled in the fiscal 2015/16,” said the court registrar Krishna Prasad Nepal.
A total of 3,451 cases were filed at the court in the last fiscal. A year before, the number stood at 1,964. Of them, divorce cases were at the top with 591 cases registered. The court has collected Rs 2.7 lakh in revenue in the fiscal 2015/16. The court has estimated that around 3,800 cases might be filed in the fiscal 2016/17 in the district.
