KATHMANDU: A man from Sarsiukharka village in Kavre district has collected Rs 200,000 to rebuild an earthquake-hit local school. Nirajan Thapaliya from Sarsiukharka-4 on Friday handed over the cash to Umakanta Tripathi, principal of Jana Chetana Higher Secondary School in Sarsiukharka-1 of Kavre. Thapaliya said he collected the money from his friends, mostly those living abroad currently. "As I heard that our school was in shambles," Thapaliya told THT Online, "I decided to initiate a private mode of some philanthropic effort." "Otherwise, studying under some makeshift tents would be terrible given the heat, and the rain, and the wind and the children's age," he added.
