Kavre schools to use ‘talking books’ to teach English

Mandan Deupur Municipality in Kavre has decided to use ‘talking books’ to teach English in  schools.

Talking books will be used for students of Nursery to Grade V in all the schools of the municipality from this session.

According to Mayor Tok Bahadur Tamang, the municipality has allocated four million rupees to buy talking books for schools in the municipality.

Talking books will automatically translate any word uttered in English into Nepali.

“We hope that the use of talking books will help students improve their English,” said the mayor.

There are 28 basic level schools, 42 child development centres and 12 secondary schools in the municipality.

Meanwhile, the municipality is planning to provide school uniform to students free of cost. The municipality is also planning to provide free lunch to students up to Grade V from this session itself.
