Khotang flood victims seek relief

KHOTANG, July 13

Khotang folks demanded relief from the Ministry of Home Affairs for flood victims.

A delegation comprising lawmakers PK Rai, Bishal Bhattarai, Saraswoti Bajimaya, RK Khambu and other district denizens demanded relief for victims at the ministry on Monday afternoon. They drew the attention of Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam and demanded relief for families that were displaced due to the disaster 10 days ago.

Rajan Rai, CPN-UML alternative central member, said they didn’t have any option but to visit the ministry as houses, cattle, food grains, paddy fields, power house, bridge and canal were completely destroyed by flood. “Minister Gautam assured that the government would help the victims.

Forty-year-old Pari Maya Rai and her 12-year-old daughter Samita Rai have gone missing for a month. A dozen families of Khidima, Mattim, Bajhechyandanda and Ratandha have been displaced.

District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee on Friday recommended more than 200 families to the central office.
