Khotang wears festive look with party colours

An array of election publicity materials has blanketed the main bazaars across Khotang.  Parties’ flags, banners, pamphlets, among other materials, can be seen in the houses and chowks of Diktel, Bakshila, Halesi, Khotang Bazaar, Chisapani and Aiselukharka, among other trade centres, in the district.

The parties’ flags, pamphlets and banners belonging to Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal and other political parties have made Diktel Bazaar more colourful.

Cadres from the left alliance have decorated hotels, houses, shops of Diktel Bazaar with their election publicity materials, while candidates and leaders have toured the rural areas for canvassing. UML District Deputy Secretary Kumar Acharya said the party had started poll-related activities while joint publicity campaigns were being taken to different places in the district.

Likewise, NC flags, posters, pamphlets, among other materials, have swarmed Diktel Bazaar. NC leaders and cadres took their election publicity campaigns to individual houses of Bhabangaura. Saraswati Bajimaya is the parliamentary candidate from the NC for the single constituency of Khotang.

NC’s Subash Kumar Pokhrel and Bishnu Kumar Rai will contest the provincial election in Ka and Kha of the constituency respectively.

The left alliance has fielded Bishal Bhattarai to contest the parliamentary poll in the district. UML’s Rajan Rai and Ram Kumar Rai of CPN-Maoist Centre will be contesting for provincial seats in Ka and Kha respectively. As many as 125,183 voters will cast their ballot in the upcoming election from the district.
