Kid living behind bars as both parents jailed

POKHARA: An innocent one-and-half-year-old child has been forced to live behind the bars as his both parents were imprisoned in a human trafficking case, in Kaski.

Suraj Paswan's mother has called on concerned stakeholders and right workers to rescue her child.

Bishnu Sunar and her husband Sudhan Paswan were sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment after they were found involved in a trafficking case, around nine months ago.

While Sunar is doing her time in the Kaski Jail, Paswan is in Tanahun Jail of the neighbouring district.

"We have to face action after doing something wrong," Sunar said, "But, this innocent kid was restricted behind the bars."

"I wish someone could take care of his upbringing and studies," She lamented.

The 23-year-old Sunar had married with the Indian national Paswan after an affair seven years ago.

Suraj has not got his birth certificate also as his parents have not registered their marriage yet.

The couple also have another five-year-child, who is living with the woman's parents.

Chief of the Kaski Jail Hari Prasad Gautam said they were trying to ensure protection of the child.
