RAJBIRAJ: An absconding suspect behind kidnapping and holding a man hostage was arrested after six years from Banainiya of Saptari on Saturday.

The District Police Office arrested Islam Miya aka Bikram of Banainiya of Saptari from his house.

Punit Chaudhary, a shopkeeper in Bramhapur VDC-7 of Saptari, was kidnapped after closing his shop on January 27, 2011.

According to Superintendent of Police Diwesh Lohani of the DPO, Jaya Shankhar Chaudhary, the victim’s uncle, had lodged a case against the suspected kidnappers.

Around five people were reportedly involved in the kidnapping.

Police are searching for the others.
