Kin of missing monks demand investigation

KATHMANDU: Accusing Ram Bahadur Bamjan, the self-styled godman of being a sexual predator and murderer, kin of pupils who went missing from Bamjan's sanctum on different dates have urged the government to launch an investigation into the matter.

General Secretary of the Dharma Charkra Assocation, Prem Dorje Lama who is an acquaintance to families of two missing monks- Dolmo of Makwanpur and Chunmo of Nuwakot- demanded the government to initiate a search operation.

"Both Dolmo and Chunmo were monks at our sanctuary and later they followed Bamjan in his religious exertion," Lama said, "Families of both monks report that they have disappeared since. And we searched for them but to no avail, now the state must uncover the truth."

Kin of Dolmo informed that she had telephoned them from Bamjan's sanctum and she was not there when they later went to meet her in 2015.

Likewise, Chunmo's sister Gangamaya said that Chunmo became a disciple to Bamjan in 2013 and had returned home once. And after she went to Bamjan's sanctum again, they have not heard from her.

The kin of the missing monks have also filed a police complaint seeking investigation into the matter.
