Kin of missing warn of fast-unto-death

Lamjung, November 2:

Locals, who have been staging a relay hunger strike in front of the unified security base camp in Bhorletar since October 25 to press the government to make the whereabouts of those disappeared by the state public, warned today that they will stage a fast-unto-death if their demand is not met.

Radha, wife of Shekharnath, who was disappeared by the state, said, “We will stage a fast-unto-death if the relay hunger strike does not work.” Locals said Chetnath Ghimire, Rajan Ghimire, Shekharnath Ghimire and Surya Kumar Shrestha were disappeared by the army.

Chetnath Ghimire was arrested on February 2, 2002. Acting chief district officer Ram Kaji Khanal said he is aware of the relay hunger. strike, but has no knowledge about the whereabouts of the disappeared.
