Kin of Rangeli firing victims to be given Rs 25,000
MORANG: Families of the victims of Rangeli firing on last Thursday would be provided with Rs 25,000 each by the Morang District Administration Office to perform death rituals of the deceased.
Three people were killed on January 21 in a clash between the police and the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front cadres. An all-party meeting held with the participation of representatives of the Front at the District Administration Office agreed with the decision of providing Rs 25,000 each to the victims' families immediately.
The UDMF demanded the status of martyrs to the deceased, formation of a high level probe committee to investigate into the incident, arrangement of free treatment of the injured and compensation to the victims' families.
The meeting agreed to recommend the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the arrangements of free treatment and compensation, UDMF Coordinator Raj Kumar Yadav said.
The district leaders of UDMF, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist have signed the agreement.
