King getting isolated by the day: Thapa

Dhangadhi, September 26:

President of Rastriya Janshakti Party (RJP) and former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa said today the King is feeling more isolated day by day due to the recent speech by the vice chairman of the council of ministers Dr Tulsi Giri’s speech. Addressing a gathering of RJP cadres at Dhangadhi today, Thapa said such statements by a member of the cabinet can affect the “monarchy”. “How can a member of the cabinet make such sensational statements in guise of his personal views?” Thapa said.

As a majority of people is against active monarchy, he said only constitutional monarchy can address people’s problems, which is also the demand of Nepalis, he said Due to geographical inconvenience, development has not reached the far-west, he said. Meanwhile, a report from Janakpudham said, Nepal Sadbhavana Party (Anandidevi) has said it would review the provisions relating to constitutional monarchy in the party statute. A proposal seeking amendment in the preamble of the party statute, presented at the two-day-long meeting of the party’s national level cadres by the party vice-chairman Bharat Bimal Yadav, says review of the constitutional monarchy has become imminent. The meeting approved the statute ammendment proposal.
