King keen on restoring democracy, says Dhakal

The minister for information and communication, Tanka Dhakal has said that the King is keen to strengthen democracy in the country in the interests of the country and people.
Issuing directives today to office chiefs in the district administration office at the district headquarters, Jaleswor, Dhakal noted that the current government is aimed at building the country as a prosperous nation by restoring lasting peace.
“There is a great need of cooperation from people to achieve this goal,” he said.
He also directed civil servants to fulfil their duties and deliver timely services to the people as per the King’s wish.
Hailing the “historic” royal move of February 1, Dhakal added that only cooperation
from all sides could help the country achieve the desired goal of development.
He also expressed the view that the administration machinery should function as an independent and transparent body.
On the occasion, zonal administrator of Jankapur, Janak Jungli, chief district officer, Bimal Prasad Dhakal and member of the Rajparishad Kari Yadav were also present.
Addressing the gathering of representatives of civil society and political workers, Dhakal said if they maintained honesty towards the country, nationalism and the crown, it would help the country achieve peace and progress.
Referring to the royal decision to hold municipal elections in the month of Chaitra next, he said the present government was committed to hold elections in peaceful and fair manner.
Dhakal also inspected the Nepal Television broadcasting centre, the district postal office and the office of Nepal Telecom.
