Kathmandu, May 29:

While the seven-party alliance expressed its continuing resentment at the derailed constitutional process and also insisted on revival of the House of Representatives as part of a complete solution to the crisis, vice-chairman of the council of ministers, Kirtinidhi Bista, today said that the King’s latest remarks should be taken in a positive manner.

“What I know is that the latest remarks (made by the King on Friday) are part of a goodwill gesture. It would be better if the parties take the King’s remarks in a positive manner,” Bista told reporters at a function organised here by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).

He did not elaborate but insisted that things could be sorted out if the alliance adopted a positive outlook vis a vis the royal remarks.

Reacting to queries on the government’s bid to tighten its grip on the press, Bista said that no one should expect any curb on the right to freedom of expression but “at the same time it was also true that the members of the Fourth Estate should work responsibly and with dedication.”
