Kohalpur, June1:

People of Kohalpur have been facing an acute shortage of water. The situation has arisen because many wells have dried up due to scorching heat. Local people are digging wells to meet their requirement of water.

Even though people of the area are digging wells by spending a lot of money, there is no water, thanks to the depleting water table, said Mainadevi Poudel, a housewife.

Some 70 households of this parched area are drawing water from wells by using electric motor.

But the erratic power supply has made the job of pumping up water even more difficult, according to Mohan Chapagain.
