Koirala congratulates Singh

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress president and former prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala today congratulated Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for his second successive term.

In a letter sent to Singh, Koirala said the Indian people had voted for democracy, peace and stability, and for the continuity of Singh's leadership in order to take India further.

"As an immediate neighbour and member of the regional forum, we are pretty sure that your able and dynamic leadership will also push ahead vigorously the agenda of peace, stability and enhanced economic cooperation among the SAARC nations," Koirala said in his message.

Koirala noted that the relationship between India and Nepal was cordial, outstanding and unique. "It will grow and deepen further during your tenure," Koirala wrote to the Indian premier.
