NEPALGUNJ: Kiran Koirala, sister-in-law of late Sushil Koirala, was elected district president of the Nepali Congress for Banke on Friday.

Koirala secured 358 votes, while his rival Niranjan Singh Sijapati obtained 217 votes. Both the candidates are from establishment faction.

Of the total 612 voters, only 591 cast their votes in the ongoing general convention of the party.
