Lamjung community schools face an annual drop of 4000 students

LAMJUNG: The decline in number of students in community schools of Lamjung has increased continuously over the years as schools lose around 4,000 students annually, officials informed.

According to Baburam Baral, Information Officer at District Education Office, around 4,000 students drop out from community schools every year.

The schools have failed to attain the required number of students despite merging with other schools in the area.

Former District Education Officer, Jyanmani Nepal had written letters to 141 schools in the district requesting for a merger following a decline in number of students.

“Out of 349 community schools in Lamjung, 150 schools have hardly registered 20 students in the current academic session,” Baral said.
