Landslide wreaks havoc in Jajarkot

JAJARKOT: A landslide triggered by incessant rains this morning at Kayakhet of Triveni Nalgadh Municipality-8 in Jajarkot district buried paddy cultivation spread to a large scale.

The landslide has also displaced five families of local residents Hum Prakash Singh, Hira Lal Khatri and Kharka Bahadur Shahi, among others. They have been forced out of the settlement due to the disaster. It also damaged maize crops.

A mudslide above from the Kayakhet-Jikuwa road has posed a grave threat to other dozens of houses. Locals have complained that a dozer was used during road construction, violating the standard.

Meanwhile, vehicular movement along the Chhepka-Kaina road section has come to a halt due to a landslide at Dandagaun. The local government pledged to initiate efforts to clear the blocked road soon.
