Landslides block roads
Dipayal, July 1:
Incessant downpour since yesterday has affected normal life in the hilly districts of the far-western development region.
Landslides triggered by rainfall have obstructed Bhimdutta, Dasharath Chand and KI Singh highways.
Locals said the landslides had left vehicles bound for Baitadi and Bajhang stranded.
Villagers said the landslides in Rampur and Raduwa had blocked the road linking Dadeldhura with Dipayal.
Dozens of vehicles had been stranded on both sides of swollen Dwari river, which borders Silgadhi and Dipayal in Doti, locals added.
With the downpour continuing, drivers said the chances of an early resumption of traffic on the highways were slim.
"The damage to roads due to the landslides has not been known yet," SP at the Doti District Police Office Dilip Deuba said.
