Landslides obstruct rural roads in Sindhupalchok

MELAMCHI: Most of the rural roads in Sindhupalchok district have been obstructed due to landslides triggered by incessant rainfall.

The Melamchi-Nawalpur-Chautara road linking the district headquarters has been obstructed for the past couple of weeks due to a landslide at Jhyadi Rivulet.

Likewise, passengers travelling to Gunsa and Bhotang have also been bearing the brunt of recurring landslides that have disrupted vehicular movement along the road section, said locals.

Dhruba Giri, a local of Duwachaur Keurani, said they have been compelled to walk for hours to purchase daily essential goods due the disruption.

The road leading to Baruwa from Melamchi via Banskharka has also been obstructed.

Locals have been compelled to walk a whole day to reach Melamchi Bazaar to buy daily essentials.

Likewise, continuous landslides at Jure have also been obstructing the vehicular movement.
