Lawmakers’ active support sought for amendments

Kathmandu, January 29

Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the Parliament has consulted lawmakers, who have registered amendment proposals to amend Some Nepal Acts, 2019. The bill is aimed at amending Some Nepal Acts in line with the Constitution of Nepal.

In today’s meeting Chairman Krishna Bhakta Pokharel sought lawmakers’ active support to take the bill to its logical conclusion since some preceding laws contrary to the constitution will have to be amended by March 5. Lawmaker Yesodha Subedi said the local levels should be given responsibility to implement their rights. “An umbrella act is needed to ensure uniformity in modus operandi of health academies established in the country,” she argued.

Likewise, another member Rekha Sharma said the need of the hour was not just laws with different names but with substance.
