DTAC reports sent back for not meeting standards
Kathmandu
The Local Bodies Restructuring Commission said that recent reports would be sent back to the District Technical Assistance Committees (DTAC) as most of the reports had failed to meet the conditions set by the commission.
It would take the constitutional body additional time to prepare the final report, which will ultimately affect the election, LBRC officials said.
“The population of most of the local bodies, including municipalities and special protected areas and autonomous areas are not in the range determined by the commission,” said LBRC member Sunil Ranjan Singh.
According to Singh, the commission would send the reports back to the district technical assistance committee and ask them to resubmit the reports at the earliest after making necessary changes.
“Reports will be sent back to the DTACs for authentication,” said LBRC Chief Balananda Paudel. He said that the commission was trying its best to prepare the final report as soon as possible, with 60 DTACs already handing in their reports.
According to LBRC Chief Paudel, the constitutional body has made attempts to respond to the genuine concerns of the people and communities and asked its district office to review the complaints of dissatisfied groups and the communities.
In fact, several disgruntled groups have lodged complaints over the restructuring of local units and have warned the LBRC that they will not accept demarcation if their concerns are not addressed.
The LBRC in the meantime said that it is working to prepare the final report by the end of November.
