Leopard terror rife

Locals are terrified after a leopard started entering human settlements and attacking people in Bhanu Municipality, Tanahun.

The locals at wards 2, 3, 4, 5, 9 and 11 of the municipality are compelled to shut their doors just after sunset fearing that the big cat will attack and injure them or even kill them.

Deputy Mayor Aasha Thapa, said people were terrified after the leopard attacked them time and again. Three children of the municipality had lost their lives due to leopard attack this year alone.

Earlier, the people were happy after a leopard was found dead some time ago. But the locals have been terrified after the wild cat attacked nine-year-old Puspa Adhikari and killed her on June 7. The leopard had also killed a person last year.

Bhanu Area Police Office said the police team has been searching for the leopard.

Police said the security personnel had been deployed to take the leopard under control since Friday evening.
