Leopard trapped in chicken cage, rescued

DAMAULI: A leopard was found trapped inside a chicken cage at Katuwa of Byas Municipality-5 in Tanahun district on Sunday morning.

The leopard entered the chicken cage belonging to local Shri Prasad Thapa, ate two chickens and left one dead, according to Ambika Paudel, Chief at the District Forest Office, Tanahun.

However, the big cat was found stuck inside the cage as it was unable to exit the cage this morning, Paudel added.

A team of forest rangers led by Assistant Forest Officer Narayan Koirala captured the leopard and brought it to the District forest office.

The leopard that measures four foot in length, one and half foot width and two foot height, will be sent to Kathmandu-based Central Zoo, informed Chief Forest Officer Paudel.

However, if the office is unable to send the leopard to Kathmandu due to obstructed roads, it will be left in the jungle far from human settlement, informed the Tanahun District Forest Office
