Lightning claims one life in Dadeldhura, three others injured

DADELDHURA: A girl died and three others sustained injuries when lightning struck in Marku, Parashuram Municipality-3 of Dadeldhura district today morning.

The deceased has been identified as Sangita Bhat (13). She was getting ready for school when the lightning struck at 7:00 am, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dambar Bahadur KC at District Police Office (DPO), Dadeldhura.

Injured in the lightning, Sangita was being taken to a health facility. However, she breathed her last on the way there, informed DPO, Dadeldhura. Sangita was studying in Grade 8 at Bhageshwor Secondary School.

Others injured are Bharat Bista (40), Mahadev Bhatta (50) and Mina Bhat (15) of the same locality. Mina Bhat is Sangita’s sister. They are currently undergoing treatment at various health facilities in the district. Among the injured, Bharat Bista is in a critical condition, said DSP KC.
