Literacy classes at Ilam District Jail

ILAM: The Ilam District Jail has been running literary classes for illiterate prisoners.

A total of 25 prisoners, including 11 women and 14 men, have joined the literary classes, informed jailer Srijana Luintel. She said that an arrangement has been made at the initiative of jail administration and the prisoners for the teaching-learning activities.

Necessary expenses have been collected from both sides to run the class.

Luintel said that such attempt was made with an objective to help reduce crimes in the society post their release from the jail.

There are 245 men and 28 women prisoners in the jail and among them five prisoners passed this year's SLC exam.
