Local awareness camps gain popularity

Rautahat, November 18:

Awareness campaigns run by Kadam-Nepal, a non-governmental organisation run by local youth, have gained much popularity here.

Groups of youth including theatre and television artistes have performed dozens of street dramas to create awareness among people about health education, environment, forest conservation and social awareness against human trafficking among others.

Vice Chairman of Kadam-Nepal, Fanindra Mahat, said local youth have teamed up to perform street dramas as they are effective means to create awareness about elimination of social

evils and bad practices from the society.

The organisation has already performed around five-dozen dramas relating to leprosy, HIV/AIDS, pre-natal and post-natal health care among others, Mahat said adding that people in the locality see the street dramas with keen interest and this has made their campaign a success.

Nepal is not only limited in Rautahat but has also performed in remote rural regions of Bara,

Parsa, Sarlahi and Mahottari districts as well with joint efforts from concerned authorities of

the region, Chairman of Kadam Nepal, Yadav Raj Puri informed.
