Local level representatives from 50 districts submit property details

KATHMANDU: Two-third of the local level representatives have submitted their property details to National Vigilance Centre.

As per the provisions, the representatives are required to submit property details within 60 days of taking oath of office. The official statistics show that there are 35041 representatives in 753 local bodies of the Country. However, only 6775 representatives from 50 districts have filed in their property details till now.

"The Centre is collecting property details through the office of District Coordination Committee," National Vigilance Centre's Property Detail Monitoring Department Chief Parshuram Pokharel informed, "We have extended the submission deadline."

The local level representatives are submitting the property details for first time in line with Article 50 of The Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 that states people employed in public service must submit their property details within the given deadline.

As per the provisions in the Act, those who fail to submit their details will be fined an amount up to Rs 5000 by The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
