Local polls soon, assures DPM Thapa

HETAUNDA: Deputy Prime Minister as well as Federal Affairs and Local Development Minister Kamal Thapa claimed that the local body elections would be held soon.

Thapa also said his government was preparing to declare the election date.

He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the 21st Municipal Council of Hetaunda Sub-Metropolitan City on Friday.

He further said momentum of local development was lost due to absence of people-elected representatives at the local governments.

Thapa meanwhile assured to connect each and every VDC with road links within two years.

On the occasion Thapa appealed the agitating forces to hold talks with the parliament.

Assuring the protesting parties that their demands be addressed, the Rastriya Parjatantra Party-Nepal Chairperson said the Constitution is amendable and it can be amended any time through dialogues and talks.

To amend the Constitution, no one should go to a jungle, raise arms and protest on the streets, he said, even the government could be toppled if the Parliament wanted.
