Locals in Dharan benefit from health programme

Dharan, November 5:

BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) and the Rotract Club of Ghopa here, are running a door-to-door health programme in Dharan every Saturday since the last two-and-a-half months.

After informing locals about the programme yesterday, health workers organised free health services and consultation for patients at Putali Line in Dharan municipality. People narrated their individual health problems to doctors. Some 120 persons got free treatment facility yesterday and more than 120 received consultancy service about different diseases.

Programme coordinator Dr Sanjiv Sharma said the door-to-door programme was launched here to control diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, among others. The programme was organised to implement the suggestions of the world-level meeting of the International Society of Nephrology, said Dr Sharma.

Sanam Shrestha, a member of the Rotract Club, said: “More than 600 patients have benefited from the programme.” A local coordinator of the programme, Narayan Limbu, said: “We are benefiting directly as the doctors make house-calls.”
