Locals obstruct highway after jeep hit kills Dhading elderly

DHADING: An elderly man was killed when a jeep hit him in Naubise VDC-4 along the Prithvi Highway, on Saturday morning.

The deceased has been identified as local Sanu Thapa (70).

The jeep (Ba 15 Cha 4482) heading towards Munglin from Kathmandu hit Thapa at Kanakot killing him on the spot, at around 8:00 am today, according to the Khanikhola-based Area Police Office.

Meanwhile, the local residents have staged protest and obstructed the Highway demanding a compensation from the government to the family members of Thapa, said police.

In a separate incident, a motorcyclist was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a truck at Galaundi, Pida VDC along the Prithvi Highway in Dhading district, on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Ram Kaji Magar of Baireni VDC-7 in the district.

The motorcycle (Ba 79 Pa) heading for Baireni from Gajuri collided head-on with the truck (Na 6 Pa 5605)  heading towards Gajuri, injuring the motorcyclist last night.

Critically injured Magar breathed his last while being rushed to a health institution in Kathmandu, said police.

Meanwhile, the truck driver has been detained along with the vehicle for further investigation, Dhading District Police Office informed.
