Lord Buddha’s message relevant: Bista

The vice chairman of council of ministers Kirti Nidhi Bista said that putting Lord Gautam Buddha’s message of peace into practice has become inevitable today. Inaugurating the 2549th Buddha Jayanti Golden Jubilee Festival organised by the 2549th Buddha Jayanti Celebration Committee, Biswashanti Vihar here today, vice chairman Bista said Gautam Buddha is a guide and centre of belief for the Buddhists as well as to those wishing for world peace and non-violence. He also expressed confidence that memorising and imbibing the priceless knowledge and message of peace given by Buddha will bring about positive changes in human lifestyle and also upgrade the moral norms and values of individuals. As peace is inevitable to development the message of peace given by Lord Gautam Buddha has become very important today, said Bista adding that it is unfortunate that violence and disorder has taken roots in the country.

Bista gave away letters of citation and appreciation to various individuals making significant contribution to Buddha Jayanti celebrations like Prof Asharam Shakya, Kirti Bahadur Bajracharya, Trailokya Raj Bajracharya and Durga Man Bajracharya. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Buddhi Raj Bajracharya said it is essential to develop Nepal as a peace centre and informed that an international airport will be completed in Lumbini within the next three years. A host of speakers, including Sri Lankan Ambassador to Nepal Grace A Ashirbatham, and president of All Nepal Bhikshu Federation Bhikshu Kumar Kasyap shed light on various aspects of Lord Buddha at the function headed by chairperson of the celebration committee Trailokya Raj Shakya.
