Luggage vanishes from NAC flight

Sankhuwasabha, May 9:

A luggage containing goods worth Rs 20,000 of Pratima Shrestha of Dhankuta-4 was vanished

from the plane while she was coming to Tumlingtar of Sankhuwasabha on a Nepal Airlines flight on April 16.

Since then, she approached the Nepal Airlines Corporation office in Tumlingtar four times with the hope of getting her goods back, but every time she returned empty-handed. Every time she approached the office along with the tag for her baggage (47070), officials there told her that it was being searched.

Shrestha said she has not been able to return to Dhankuta as she has been waiting here for any news about the luggage. She says she cannot ignore the luggage as it contained valuable goods and important documents. NAC official at Tumlingtar Kamal Khanal said the luggage was being searched. “The process of searching lost items is time-consuming. Let’s hope it will be found. But there is no guarantee that it will be found for sure,” Khanal said.

However, Pratima accused NAC employees of disappearing her baggage. She says NAC staffers themselves are involved in disappearing the passengers’ goods.

Reports of goods missing on NAC flights on Kathmandu-Biratnagar route had come out in the past too. NAC employees however deny the charge.
