Lumbini Zonal Police lash out at parties

BHAIRAHAWA: Lumbini Zonal Police Office has accused cadres of different political parties of being involved in various criminal activities and donation drives.

at a press conference organised by Limbuni Zonal Police Office here today, said that various political parties were sheltering party cadres involved in criminal activities.

“Amir Ullaha, Nawalparasi vice-chairman of Nepal Tarun Dal who was involved in forceful donation drive and abduction is still at large due to political shelter,” said SP Khatri. He also accused leaders of Tarai Madhes

Democratic Party and Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum of assisting criminal gangs carry out their activities.

“The criminals can be nabbed if political parties and members of civil society help the police,” he said, adding that it was difficult to control the crime when political parties themselves were sheltering criminals.

Bigyanraj Sharma, SSP at the Lumbini zonal police office said that security situation of the zone had remarkably improved during the past nine months.

“Criminal activities and donation drive was radically decreased in Rupandehi, Kapilvastu and Nawalparasi district after leaders of different armed outfits were arrested,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rupandehi SP Prakash Aryal said goods worth over 50 lakh rupees which were imported to Nepal evading taxes in the past nine months were seized and handed to the Bhairahawa Customs Office.
