Madhesi people are excited for polls, observes Khanal

CHITWAN: CPN-UML senior leader Jhalanath Khanal has claimed that Madhesi people were excited to participate in the upcoming local election.

Khanal said so while addressing journalists at the Bharatpur Airport in Chitwan on Thursday.

The former Prime Minister also claimed that the UML was the biggest party in Province number 2, dominated by the Madhesi population.

He further informed that his party had been in the poll preparations by selecting candidates for the local polls.

Making it clear that his party was against the Constitution amendment bill tabled at the Parliament for discussion, Khanal said it was necessary to move forward for all the three elections - local, provincial and federal - as a way out for the country's current political crisis.

Accusing that the incumbent government was trying to delay the elections, Khanal said any kind of such action would not be acceptable.
