Madhesis will revolt: Yadav

Kathmandu, July 3 :

Maoist leader and president of the Madhesi National Liberation Front Nepal, Matrika Yadav, today warned that the Madhesis would launch a “people’s revolt” if their problems were not addressed.

He also warned that his party would capture the central government if elections to a constituent assembly were delayed.

At a press conference organised to make public the decisions of the Madhesi Liberation Front Nepal, Yadav said their main demands were to ensure the right to self-determination, a democratic republic along with a federal system and proportional representation in the state affairs.

He also warned that the Madhesis could demand a “separate state” if they were discriminated against even after the assembly polls. Yadav said that Front’s meeting on June 28-29 had passed a resolution that citizenship certificates be distributed to the Madhesis before the assembly polls. He said the Front’s second national convention would be held in the capital on November 1-3.
