Mahat rules out change in govt
Pokhara, November 24:
Nepali Congress central member and Finance Minister Dr Ram Saran Mahat today ruled out any chance in government just because one or two parties want it.
Saying that the current government is a government of consensus among its constituents, Mahat said a change in government is possible only through a consensus.
Speaking at a programme organised here to declare the formation the new committee of the NC-affiliated Democratic Disabled Association in Pokhara, Mahat said: “As all issues are being settled through agreements, the government cannot be changed just because one or two parties want it.” Any change in the government is impossible without the consent of the NC, he said.
Stating that amendment to the constitution is also possible through a consensus, Mahat stressed the need for holding CA polls to end the current stalemate.
He also said the two proposals passed by the parliament on republic and fully proportional polls were not mandatory on the government as the proposals were against the spirit of the constitution.
