Mahato meets prime minister
Kathmandu: Sadbhawana Party Chair Rajendra Mahato today met Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Baluwatar.
Mahato told THT that he urged the PM to address the 11-point demands of the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front in a package, including the demand to revise provincial boundaries.
Mahato said he did not receive any firm assurance from the PM on any of the key issues. “The PM told me that he would consult party colleagues, as well as the leaders of the major parties, regarding UDMF demands,” Mahato added.
“We will continue our agitation till our demands are met,” Mahato said and added that he would go to Siraha on Tuesday to join the protest against the provisions of the new constitution.
The meeting lasted more than two hours. Mahato was accompanied by party Chair Laxman Lal Karna.
Mahato returned to Kathmandu from New Delhi on Sunday.
He told mediapersons at Tribhuvan International Airport that he wanted to go to Madhes to join the ongoing Madhes agitation but came to the capital, as the PM wanted to meet him.
