GAUSHALA, MAHOTTARI: Police in Mahottari district on Monday arrested a person on charge of murdering his wife.

The arrested has been identified as Pradeep Sahani (25) of Sirasiya in Matihani Rural Municipality-3 in the district.

Two years ago, Sahani had tied knot with Tinky Kumari(20), a daughter of Jugeshwar Sahani of Simardahi in Matihani Rural Municipality-6, according to the Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar Lamsal at the Mahottari District Police Office.

Police had found the body of Kumari hanging by a noose of Gamchha (cotton towel) tightened around her neck in her bedroom on Saturday.

Locals residents had held Sahani this morning, who had been absconding after allegedly murdering his wife, and handed him over to police when he had come home to take some goods.

Kumari's parents and brothers blamed Sahani for the murder. They have charged that Sahani killed their daughter in collusion with other family members, saying he did not like her since she did not conceive even after two years of their marriage.

Sahani's mother and father have still been absconding. Kumari's father and brother informed police about the incident after locals informed them about the incident.

Investigation into the incident is underway keeping, said police.
