GAUSHALA: Police have arrested a school teacher red-handed on the charge of abusing his student sexually in his rented room in Mahottari district.

The arrested teacher is Ram Dular Sah Sonar (38) of Gaushala Municipality-3 who had allegedly called the girl to his room in Gaushala Municipality saying she needed to be taught extra preparatory classes.

However, the student had already appeared in this year's Secondary Education Examination.

Sah is an English teacher at the local Shree Janata Secondary School, said Inspector Shambhu Pokharel at the Area Police Office, Gaushala.

A student reported to police Tuesday afternoon that he saw the teacher engaged in a sexual activity with the 16-year-old girl in his rented room at Gaushala Bazaar.

A team of policemen reached Sah's room immediately after receiving the information and rescued the girl. The girl has been taken to the District Hospital, Jaleshwar for a medical examination.

Locals alleged Sah of sexually abusing the girl on the pretext of giving her tuition classes at various times in the past also.
