Move to counter ruling-coalition's impeachment motion expected

Kathmandu, February 13

Main opposition party CPN-UML has called a meeting of the party secretariat on Sunday evening.

Likewise, another meeting of the UML parliamentary party too has been scheduled for Monday morning.

UML has called the meetings in response to the impeachment motion filed at the parliamentary secretariat, which was, according to party leaders, 'covertly' done without the opposition's knowledge.

It is being speculated that the main opposition party, to counter ruling coalition's impeachment move, will file an impeachment motion against the four justices of the Supreme Court's Constitutional Bench that had passed a ruling in favour of reinstatement of House of Representatives, leading to the oust of UML-led government.

However, according to the party's vice president Subash Nembamg, the consecutive meetings will discuss the latest political developments, including the impeachment motion.

UML, for months, has been disrupting House proceedings accusing Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota of being complicit in the 'conspiracy' to split their party.
