Mainali wishes for Maoist-led govt’s collapse

Jhapa, December 11:

General Secretary of the CPN-Marxist-Leninist (ML) CP Mainali today said that the Maoist-led government would topple itself if it failed to address people’s aspirations.

Speaking at a press conference organised by the district chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) here, he said, “The CPN-ML will not take any step to topple the government, however, it will fall due to its own causes if it ignores to address the people’s aspirations.”

He said that the remarks which Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ expressed quitting the government on different occasions were extremely irresponsible. “PM’s remarks of quitting the government could not be taken as responsible act as the need of the hour for implementing the past agreements,” he said.

Saying that federalism should not be adopted on the ground of ethnicity, he said, “My party is for adopting federalism with a provision of five regional states while lingual and ethnic grounds can be taken to form autonomous units in the state restructuring,” he said.

The expressions of the Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist on PLA integration and rehabilitation were against the past accords, he said. “The PLA fighters should be adjusted with Nepal Army and police on the basis of their qualification.”
