Maintaining law, order a must: Sushil

Acting president of the Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala said today that maintaining law and order in the country is a must. Speaking at a gathering organised by the Bara Chambers of Commerce and Industries here, he said the NC is trying to improve security situation. Stating that the government is alert on the security situation, he said the CA polls will stabilise the country. He urged Maoist chairman Prachanda to implement the comprehensive peace accord. Koirala said the NC is eager to hold talks with JTMM-G and JTMM-J, adding he is ready to ensure security for those associated with JTMM factions.
Stating that it is necessary to stop acts of violence, murder and abduction, he said the killing of innocent bus passengers in yesterday’s inferno in Bara was condemnable.
People are the supreme power, he said, adding that politics of weapon never ends in success.
Meanwhile, a report from Narayangarh quoted Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ramchandra Paudel as saying today that the country needs political stability and lasting peace.
Paudel was speaking at the Ratnanagar Festival held in Ratnanagar municipality of eastern Chitwan.
