Man dies due to docs negligence
ITAHARI: A patient died allegedly due to the negligence of health workers in a private hospital here today.
According to police, Ramesh Shreshta, 37, of Sundarpur-3 Morang, who was admitted in the Purbanchal General Hospital and Research Centre after he complained of stomachache, died due to the wrong treatment. Inspector Surendra Sitaula at Itahari area police office, said that Shrestha was admitted in hospital two days ago.
His condition was deteriorated after the nurses and the assistant health workers inserted pipe in his nose wrongly on Monday night. He lost his life while being rushed to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences Dharan for further treatment, the police said.
In the wake of Shrestha’s death, irked relatives gheraoed the hospital from today evening. The situation around the hospital remained tense this evening. Placing the body in front of the hospital, the relatives demanded to take stringent action against the culprits. The police, however, foiled their attempt of vandalising and torching the hospital.
Only after the police detained health assistants Umesh Yadav and Raj Kumar Chaudhari in connection with the incident, the relatives agreed for the postmortem. However, they warned of strong protest if they were not booked.
