POKHARA: Kaski District Court has slapped seven years jail sentence on Muni Raj Ghimire, 43, for raping a woman in Pokhara Metropolis about six months ago.

A single bench of Judge Kaji Bahadur Rai ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 to the victim's family, in addition to the jail term.

Ghimire, a permanent resident of Mujure in Madi-5 of Kaski district and currently residing in Pokhara Metropolis-30, was accused of raping a 43-year-old woman a few months ago.

The woman had filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Kaski District Police Office on November 5, two days after the incident. She had undergone a medical test at the Western Regional Hospital in the Lake City on the same day.

Earlier, police had filed the case against rape accused Ghimire at the court via public prosecutors on November 30, 2018.
